Robert G. “Bobby” Knapp, Sr. was born in Harlingen, Texas where he attended Harlingen High School and graduated in 1976. He was married December 29, 1979 to Debbie Knapp. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a degree in Finance and moved to Houston, where he immediately went to work for Knapp Chevrolet, the Houston franchise his grandfather had opened in 1939. He became dealer/operator of Knapp Chevrolet on January 1, 1987.
As a third-generation dealer in the heart of Houston, Mr. Knapp has been extremely active in his local community in such organizations as the Second Baptist School Booster Club, the Memorial High School Football Booster Club (served as Vice President), the West Houston Young Life Committee, Second Baptist Church (serves as a deacon), and is a former board member of the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. and Mrs. Knapp have four children: Stephanie Knapp Dean, Robert “Robby” G. Knapp, Jr., Wesley W. Knapp, and Charles A. Knapp. He has two grandsons: William B. Dean, IV, and Jackson Robert Dean.
